Plans -- What a Joke!

It seems that I’m constantly reminded of that saying: Man plans; God laughs! Anymore, my planning always seems to get turned around. We went out to get our sofa on Friday, and I planned on two stores. My husband wanted to go elsewhere, though, and I went along with him. I know what I want aesthetically, but he knows quality in manufacturing. Sure enough, I found just what I wanted with his plan of action. I also had wanted a pale beige, but was reminded of the two little guys who may not always be aware that chocolate stains light colors (even when Scotchgarded!) So I went with the next shade darker – it’s called Kahlua, but it’s not as dark as the liqueur. It’s a microfiber with deep cushions. I really like it, and it will be delivered on Wednesday. So, that change of plans worked out well.

Then, we had planned to go to visit my little guy yesterday to celebrate his birthday (which is today.) As his gift, we got him talking Star Wars figures – Darth Vader, Stormtrooper, and Yoda. They’re about a foot tall and have flashing lights and recorded sayings. He also is getting a light saber. We got a Lego set for the younger one, so he won’t feel left out. I’m getting both of them bathrobes, but I have to get them online, so that will be a delayed gift. My plan was to wrap the boxes in blue and black solid paper and put gray or silver ribbon on them. Instead, my husband found Star War wrapping paper, and he bought several rolls. We ended up putting all the boxes into one big carton and wrapping that.  Another plan changed, but again, for the good.

When I came downstairs yesterday morning, my husband informed me that the timing of the storm had changed, and we’d be getting the snow portion very shortly, and the ice by early afternoon. Even though we’d be on main roads, the ice part of it scared me. I’ve seen a lot of wrecks caused by ice, and I was in one several years ago. So, I reluctantly called my daughter to say we’d have to cancel, and she was in full agreement. They may take the kids to the Philadelphia Flower Show today, and then come here afterward. We’ll see. Yesterday, I ended up staying home from church again, and it was a good thing. My husband said that the snow began on his drive to church, and I’d have had an awful time with the slippery ground. I stayed inside and listened to the ice hitting the windows. A change of plan that definitely was good.

So, plans get made – and for me, right down to the minutest detail. Then plans must be changed. Happens all the time, so I’ve just learned to roll with the punches. Today, I’m planning to do more baking. Let’s see how that goes!

Peace,

Muff

  2. Flexible...or rolling with the punches both are good. Your couch sounds great, I have Broyhill microfiber that looks like leather and I love it.

    1. Ours doesn't look like leather -- but it's so soft!

  3. Plans? :)) As someone who makes extensive lists has found out, because of the weather and MS, staying flexible should be at the top of the list. I'm glad things worked out for you.

    1. We got it a little earlier, but it was west to east storm. I'm trying to take these weather people with a grain of salt anymore!

  5. A freezing cold and snowy day here. So, I didn't go out shopping (as planned). I stayed home and made 4 loaves of cheese bread, worked on the afghan I am knitting, and had a little afternoon nap!
