That’s not a new radio station. It stands for “What Else Can Happen?” [I’m whispering because I don’t want the Fates to hear it and decide to show me the answer!] Anyway, the current ‘what else’ is a pulled muscle on my right side. If it were sports related they’d call it a strained oblique. So, how did it happen? Well, I can’t be positive, but my bet is on the straining I do sometimes when I walk or climb steps. I told my husband that I don’t need exercises – I get more from just moving around! I should have biceps that rival a weightlifter because of the way I exert them!
Nevertheless, whatever the cause, I felt it right as my little guys arrived. I never like anyone to see me in pain, so I just hid it. The little birthday boy gets so excited when he receives presents, and we enjoyed watching him open his gifts. He loves Lego’s, so we bought him two sets of Duplo’s. He also enjoys jigsaw puzzles, so we added several to his stash. We also got him a cute astronaut outfit since he likes to dress up and pretend. We got his older brother a Lego set, too, so he wouldn’t feel left out. Of course, they asked to play with them right away, and that kept them occupied while we fixed lunch. As usual, they wanted to do arts and crafts, so we stayed out in the den for quite awhile, as they created their masterpieces.
Every time I turned a certain way, I could feel the muscle pull, and it hurt. Once they were on their way home, I went to sit down, and it hurt so much that I yelped. I explained it to my husband, and he empathized. (He’s just now getting over his back/leg issues.) As long as I stayed aware of how I moved, I felt fine. Match that with ibuprofen, and I was okay. By this morning, it hardly hurts at all. [Fingers crossed!]
And still another ‘what else’ was my daughter getting caught in a horrible traffic jam from an overturned truck. As she sat and stewed, the little ones announced that they needed a potty! Thank heavens she had a used coffee cup and could offer them relief. I think she was on the road for over two hours when it’s normally a one-hour drive.
So, if I were to have asked that question “WECH?”, I certainly got some answers. Now, I just need to get my big boys home after they climbed/hiked to a 14,000-foot summit, and I’ll figure I’m clear for awhile.
Peace,
Muff
i hide so much from everyone muff, it's what we do. i hope the boys got home safely!!!
ReplyDeletethe heavens have opened up here today and we are getting some much needed rain. i do love when i don't have to water the gardens!!!!
You got rain? We just had a brief shower. Our lawn is so green this year, and the flowers are going nuts. (Of course, so are the weeds!!)
DeleteI think I will avoid asking that question!
ReplyDeleteYES, don't ask!! It's the same as "That's as bad as it can get."
DeleteHI THERE "WECH" should be an MS catch phrase!! God one Muff I hope your muscle relaxes and is opain free 100% soon. Geesh! All of your gifts for your guys sound so wonderful - I like you, hide my pain all the time - some days its easier than others. Us MS'ers are good at that, sigh......................I am silkl adjusting to my new meds and still taking antibiotics because the infection is not 100% gone - one day at a time!!
ReplyDeleteLove Gail
peace......
I just plant a smile on my face, and no one knows what lurks beneath!
DeleteYikes. That muscle injury sounds painful. Or at least uncomfortable. I hope you recover soon. But I know a wonky walk can trigger all sorts of misfortune.
ReplyDeleteIt did hurt, but I'm healing quickly. What wonky walk?? LOL
DeleteWHCH is what my dad used to say to me. It seems life is just one thing after another. I sure hope your muscle gets better. Those boys can make you feel better, then rest after they leave.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim, I'm almost back to feeling normal.
DeleteSorry for your pain, though. I hoped rest and nSAIDs come to the rescue. now that the little ones are home. I like WECH! What a great acronym for all that is MS.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I look up at Mt Rainier, I norice how fast the snow melt is. Last week was in the high 80s and 90 a few days. I hope that didn't spoil your boys climb to the summit. Didn't they try doing this last year, too? I have a friend who accomplished this several years ago. I was impressed. But I think climbing your stairs every day with MS is just as impressive, Muff; it just takes less gear.
My boys climbed/hiked Mt. Rainier last year, too. This time they were going up the other side. I'll put a pic in today's post to show that they weren't hot!
