There are just a few tumbleweeds up there today!
Shhhhhh.: Again, I hate to awaken the Fates who may be lurking, so I try to say this quietly. I’ve been feeling really, really good this week. I’m realistic enough to know it won’t last, but while it does, I’m enjoying it. I haven’t had trouble with walking (other than the normal wonkiness,) the stairs haven’t posed a big problem, and that exhaustion which usually overtakes me has been almost non-existent. Don’t get me wrong – a simple glance would show that I’m still disabled, but I’m not as bad as I was for many weeks in the past. Of course, I also haven’t gone outside at all. Staying indoors in the A/C has given me back a lot of my strength, and I’ll take it. This era of good feeling may come crashing down after this weekend, but I’ll take this goodness for now.
Fun Time For the Kiddos: My daughter and SIL have taken the grandies to the sweetest place on earth -- Hershey. Yesterday was my SIL’s birthday, and they headed up to the chocolate town to celebrate. The little guys will enjoy the amusement rides, the little zoo, and the museum, while smelling chocolate all the time. Since they love Reese’s Pieces, I’m sure they’ll get to indulge while they’re up there. We used to take our kids there a lot, and my parents took us, too. When they were older, my husband went to the amusements with them, and I would visit the museum, zoo, and gardens. Then we’d meet up for dinner. It was a fun time!
Visitors: My sister will be here by this afternoon. She had a conference in Baltimore this week, and she’ll drive up here and stay until Sunday. We haven’t seen her since my mom’s funeral, so I’m looking forward to it. Her dietary restrictions from last year have been lifted, so I’ll try to make some nice meals. I know she’ll want to indulge in a Philly cheese steak, so she and my husband can have that tomorrow. I’m trying to keep my own stomach from rebelling, so I’ll have some chicken with leftover salad. The little boys want Mexican, so it’ll be a free-for-all. I’ll try to do things in a simple way so I don’t have another attack.
Books: The library finally started filling my requests! Right now, I’m reading Still Alice, and I really like it. The star of the movie, Julianne Moore, won the Oscar for her portrayal of the protagonist, Dr. Alice Howland, a Harvard Linguistics professor who’s diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s. I’ll try to see the film once I finish the book. I never do it in reverse!
One of my summer fillers is airing now on PBS – Last Tango in Halifax. This is the third season, and I am hopelessly addicted to it. Cedar Cove starts on Sunday – pure Hallmark schmaltz, but I got hooked on that one, too.
Well, that quick brain sweeping left lots of room for more hoarding next week.
