Monday Musings

I’m tired, but it’s a good tired, not the exhausting, “I can’t move” tired. Yesterday was great, and I just reveled in it. We left for church in the morning, and for once, my feet weren’t screaming. The new shoes keep them so comfortable, and they really don’t look bad. The front of our church is gorgeous – everything’s in bloom and awash with color. My husband and I just stopped before going in to enjoy the beauty. All the moms were feted with a special blessing and a gift – pretty sun catcher. I was glad I struggled with my prep work and dressing so I could be there. Of course, I had to remember my mom in prayer – I miss her. We even had our May crowning yesterday – a little four year old did the honors. So my day began in a lovely way.

I had time to rest just a tad before my boys came. The younger one planned and prepared the meal, with just a little assistance from his brother. He made a shrimp and scallop dish that was fantastic. He lives near the Italian Market in South Philly, so everything was super fresh. The food was so good, and I couldn’t believe that my “little boy” did it all! My husband bought a decorated Wegman’s cake for dessert – yummy! Then I opened cards and gifts – flowers and a Roku. (The boys were surprised that I knew what it was (a streaming media player) and how it worked!) My son will install it so I can watch movies, etc., all summer long and beyond! I also got a Facetime call from the little family at Disneyworld. Even Kasey came to celebrate with me, and he’s such a great dog that he made my day even more special. By eight o’clock, everyone was on his way home, and I sat and relaxed. What a great day it was.

This week will be a little busier – husband has a doctor session and I have a hair appointment. We should go to church on Thursday evening (Ascension,) but I’ll wait to see how I feel. My older son asked me when we would start our travel cooking again, and I’ll try to do that, too. I haven’t decided on a country yet, but I’ll do some research today. There are large chunks of the globe we haven’t visited, so I have a lot from which to choose. My son said his friends always ask where he went the next day, and I was surprised he even discussed my goofy idea! So I’d better get my traveling shoes on!

I want to redo my powder room. I’m thinking of a black and white motif. Right now, it’s ivory with pale mauves, blues, and greens. The vanity and racks are oak, with gold trim. My plan is for white walls, a black and white paisley border, and the oak painted black with nickel trim. It’s all in my head right now (such a dangerous place,) but maybe over the summer, I can bribe my guys to do it.

I’m going to get some rest today – it’s supposed to get quite warm, and I’ll stay inside. We’ll get the remnants of Hurricane Ana, and then it should cool down again. I’m glad we won’t be skipping the rest of spring because summer seems to come quickly.
Hope you had a great weekend and a good week ahead.

Peace,

Muff

  3. Oh, how nice to have your son cook for you! Sounds like a great mom's day.

It's been extremely hot and humid here since Friday, I haven't left the house. I too have a hair appointment this week. Hope it cools down!

  5. I love our Roku too! We have two of them one in the Living Room and One in the Bedroom. We only subscribe to Netflix. Many Channels are free. You will like it for sure! Once you have done country cooking you could do States! I can give you some Minnesota food ideas...then you can have the boys guess what State the food represents:)

    1. Glad to hear that the Roku is so good -- I'm looking forward to using it! There are a lot of countries yet to visit, but send those MN recipes for sure! They'd be too busy eating to play guessing games! LOL
