It rained all day on Saturday – a very dreary, all-day rain. I stayed inside and watched all my DVRed shows. I didn’t make a pi[e] for Pi Day, but we did have pizza. That counts – right? Yesterday was still a bit chilly in the morning, but I still got dressed and went to church. Yesterday was Laetare Sunday, which means “Rejoice!” It occurs on the fourth Sunday of Lent, and it’s meant to be a brief break in the austerity of Lent. The priest sheds the purple vestments and dons one in a rose or pink color. I wore my own pink so I’d be a part of the celebration, and our choir had various shades of the color in their attire. When we got out of the car in the parking lot, the strong winds really hit us. It was colder than I had anticipated and it served to remind me that it’s March. Then I saw some tiny crocuses, and I was jumping for joy [figuratively] that Spring will be here shortly!
I’ve been looking online for something to wear on Easter, and I’ve decided that I’m not getting all dressed up. Every year since I was a child, I’ve done the whole Easter outfit routine, but it’s a waste for me anymore. So, I think I’ll just wear tan slacks and a bright-colored or patterned tunic. If it will be cold, I may wear a pastel sweater instead. Then I can just wear that when everyone comes for dinner. It tires me out to be changing clothes more than once a day. And… I can wear comfortable shoes. My daughter will carry on the tradition, though, and have the little guys in dress outfits.
I won’t be buying a lot of Easter candy again. I bought the little guys baskets covered in a bunny face and personalized with their names. I’ll put a book and little toys inside it, and I’ll keep the treats to a minimum. I’ll be making some Easter candy, and I’ll get some jelly beans. My decorations will go out next week, but they’re minimal too. I like to decorate with flowers, so I’ll have some plants and cut flowers in various rooms. My spring wreaths will go up, and all signs of winter will be banished. I’m working on my menu choices, and I’ll finalize them soon.
Today, I plan to bake some sugar cookies and spritz cookies, and I’ll decorate them for St. Patty’s Day, which we’ll delay for a day. We’ll celebrate on Wednesday when my boys come. Then, right after that, I have to start getting ready for Sunday, when we celebrate my son’s birthday. It will be a busy week, and I have to break it into small segments so I don’t overdo and become exhausted. MS fatigue sneaks in when I try to do too much, and I want to avoid it.
I’m also going to get outside again. There’s no wind today and the sun is trying to break through. But … the temps will be in the 50s. I want to feel that warmth and get ready for the days when those kinds of days will be the norm.
