If you really want a good meal, you must try the bœuf bourguignon that I wrote about yesterday. I could smell it all afternoon, and once I added the red wine, the aroma was heavenly. It did involve a little extra work, but it was really worth it.
My older son had to beg off because he’s having car issues. He’s looking for a new one, and the old one isn’t reliable. So, it was just the younger one. He could smell the food cooking as soon as he came in, but Kasey demanded his full attention. Poor pup misses his boy when he’s away, and he jumps all over him when he gets back. I decided to have noodles instead of potatoes, and the change was fine. The beef was tender and the veggies and spices were so good. I have some leftovers, and I’ll have them tonight. I also just had chocolate pudding with homemade whipped cream for dessert. I wanted to use these glasses I had gotten for parfaits, but I didn’t realize they were so tall. I couldn’t reach my spoon into them! (I’m not short – I’m just more down to earth!) I ended up eating mine from a plain bowl. It made for a good laugh.
My son persuaded me to order my new phone online instead of going to the phone store. He said you get what you want and the delivery is quick and free. So he helped me with my order, and it will be here tomorrow. I may regret my color choices (green with a blue case,) but it looked nice at the time. What would have taken me quite some time, my son accomplished in minutes. And, best of all, I was spared a trip to the mall! Now, I just have to do some set-up and I’m ready.
My son and I also worked out next week’s travel – Ireland, for St. Patty’s Day. We’ll have Shepherds’ Pie. I don’t like corned beef and cabbage, and that’s not all that traditionally Irish, anyway. I’ll pull down my Irish cookbook to look for desserts, but it may just be shamrock shaped cookies. We’re celebrating his birthday on the 22nd (he was born on the 24th) and he chose a pork roast. More planning – yay!!
All in all, yesterday was a good day, despite the fact that I missed seeing my one boy. And now Kasey is gone – boo!
